In an average life of about 75 years a man/woman goes through lots of ups and down. True, for some its seems there are more ups than downs and for some there are more downs than ups ! But can we predict roughly when will be the hardest times in our life ? Probably yes !! However, first it is important to emphasis that this is a relative term. It may seem that in a person’s life he may be struggling for entire life, but what we are talking here is even within that entire life when will be the toughest of times.

What is Markesh and how to find out Markesh in your Horoscope ? First of all the term Markesh comes form the concept of “Trouble like Death”, meaning during this period you will get troubled times like death itself (or you would feel like you are dead in life or probably it would be better to die !!). Shastra says Markesh gives “Mrityu tulya kast”.
So which are the Markesh planets in your horoscope which will give you so much trouble in their period ?

Look at your horoscope – the Ascendant (or Lagna) horoscope and not the Rashi or Chandra horoscope. The Lord of the 7th House and the Lord of the 2nd House are considered Markesh generally. When I say generally, it means that under certain conditions they will not become Markesh inspite of being the Lord of 7th or 2nd House. For example, Shani is Lord of 2nd House for Makar (Capricorn Lagna), but being the Lagnesh it will not become Markesh inspite of being Lord of 2nd House. Also, any planet posted in the 2nd and 7th House will again behave like Markesh though to a lesser degree than the true Markesh, ie., 2nd and 7th Lord. Again there are exceptions here.

Now if a person has to pass through the Maha Dasha of Markesh in his life it will be the worst period in his life. During the Antardashas of Markesh also he will face lots of problem but to a little lesser extent. Now what happens if according to his horoscope the Dasha of Markesh comes very very late or not likely ? Then he faces these kind of severe problems during Antardashas of Markesh during every Mahadasha.
